Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies SYNE One uses on our website and platform, why we use them, and how you can control them. We are committed to being transparent about our use of tracking technologies.
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website or use a web-based application. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to provide a better user experience, and to provide information to website owners about how their site is being used.
In addition to cookies, we may use other similar technologies including:
- Web beacons (pixel tags): Tiny transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to know when you have viewed a page or opened an email
- Local storage: Similar to cookies, local storage allows websites to store data locally in your browser for a longer period than a session cookie, and is not automatically transmitted to servers
- Session storage: Data stored only for the duration of your browser session, automatically cleared when you close the tab or browser
- Device fingerprinting: Collection of device and browser characteristics to help identify your device for security and fraud prevention purposes
Throughout this Cookie Policy, references to "cookies" include all of these similar technologies unless otherwise specified.
How We Use Cookies
SYNE One uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Authentication and security: To identify you when you log in, to maintain your logged-in session, to detect and prevent fraud, and to protect the platform from unauthorised access
- Functionality and preferences: To remember your settings and preferences - such as your dashboard layout, language, notification preferences, and display options - so you do not have to reconfigure them on each visit
- Performance and analytics: To understand how users navigate the platform and our marketing website, which features are most used, where errors occur, and how we can improve the user experience
- Marketing and advertising: To measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, to show relevant SYNE One content and advertisements to users who have previously visited our website, and to track conversions from advertising
We do not use cookies to collect sensitive financial data, personal identification information beyond what is necessary for authentication, or information from children under the age of 16.
Categories of Cookies
We categorise the cookies we use into four groups based on their purpose. The first category is strictly necessary and does not require your consent; all others require your consent before being set.
Strictly necessary cookies
Strictly necessary cookies include: session management tokens, CSRF protection tokens, load balancer cookies, authentication cookies, and cookies that record your cookie consent preferences (to avoid showing the banner repeatedly).
Functional / preference cookies
These cookies remember your preferences and choices to personalise your experience. They are not strictly necessary but improve the usability and convenience of the platform. If you decline these cookies, some personalisation features may not work as expected.
Functional cookies include: remembered language settings, dashboard layout preferences, notification preferences, previously selected date ranges or filters, and saved search parameters.
Analytics cookies
These cookies collect information about how visitors use our website and platform - such as which pages are most visited, how long users spend on certain features, where they click, and whether they encounter error messages. This information is aggregated and anonymised and helps us improve the platform. We do not use analytics cookies to identify individual users.
Analytics cookies include cookies set by Mixpanel, PostHog, and our own internal analytics systems. Where provided by third-party analytics services, data is processed in accordance with those services' privacy policies.
Marketing cookies
These cookies track your visits to our website and other websites. They are used to show you relevant SYNE One advertisements on other platforms and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. They may be set by our advertising partners such as Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and Meta (Facebook) Pixel.
Marketing cookies collect information about your browsing habits to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts. They link to information provided by other websites. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.
| Category | Requires consent | Impact if declined |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | No - always active | N/A - platform cannot function without these |
| Functional / preference | Yes | Personalisation features may not work; settings reset on each visit |
| Analytics | Yes | We cannot measure how the platform is used or improve performance data-driven |
| Marketing | Yes | Advertising will be less relevant; campaign effectiveness cannot be measured |

Managing Your Cookie Preferences
Cookie Preference Centre
The easiest way to manage your cookie preferences on the SYNE One website and platform is through our Cookie Preference Centre. You can access this at any time by:
- Clicking the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of any page on our website or platform
- Navigating to Settings → Privacy → Cookie Preferences when logged into the platform
The Preference Centre allows you to enable or disable each category of non-essential cookies independently. Your preferences are saved in the syne_consent cookie for 12 months. You can change your preferences at any time.
Browser controls
All modern browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find cookie controls under Settings → Privacy or Settings → Security in your browser. Browser-level controls allow you to:
- View all cookies stored on your device and delete them individually or all at once
- Block all cookies, third-party cookies only, or cookies from specific websites
- Set the browser to notify you when a cookie is being placed
Opt-out tools for third-party advertising
For opting out of interest-based advertising from multiple providers simultaneously, you can use:
- youronlinechoices.com - for EU/UK residents (IAB Europe's EDAA)
- optout.aboutads.info - for US residents (DAA)
- youradchoices.ca - for Canadian residents
Do Not Track
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that you not be tracked. There is currently no uniform standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and SYNE One does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals.
If a universal standard for DNT is adopted in the future, we will review our practices and update this Cookie Policy accordingly. In the meantime, you can use our Cookie Preference Centre or your browser's cookie controls to limit tracking.
We do, however, honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or browser extension sends a GPC signal to our website, we will treat it as a request to opt out of non-essential cookies for that browser session. This may be overridden by preferences you have saved in our Cookie Preference Centre.
Cookie Consent for Our Platform
When you first visit the SYNE One website or create an account, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner that explains our cookie use and invites you to choose which categories of non-essential cookies you wish to accept.
We obtain and record your cookie consent in compliance with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and, where applicable, the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR. Our consent mechanism:
- Presents cookie categories clearly and in plain language before any non-essential cookies are set
- Requires a positive, affirmative action to accept non-essential cookies - we do not use pre-ticked boxes or dark patterns
- Makes it equally easy to decline as to accept non-essential cookies
- Records a timestamp and your choices in the
syne_consentcookie for audit purposes - Allows you to change your preferences at any time through the Cookie Preference Centre
If you are a business customer accessing the platform under a corporate Subscription, your organisation's IT administrator may configure cookie settings for all users in the organisation. Please check with your IT department if you have questions about cookie settings in a corporate context.
Changes to This Policy
We review and update this Cookie Policy periodically to reflect changes in the cookies we use, the services they support, or applicable legal requirements. When we make material changes - for example, adding a new category of cookie or a new third-party provider - we will notify you by displaying a prominent notice on our website and resetting your cookie consent preferences so that you can review and re-confirm your choices.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this Cookie Policy reflects the most recent revision. Previous versions of this Cookie Policy are available on request from our DPO at dpo@syneone.com.
