The Sustainability Team Problem

You are the data collection department. You shouldn't be.

Most sustainability teams spend the majority of their time not doing sustainability work - they are managing spreadsheets, chasing supplier questionnaire responses, reconciling energy invoices, and manually re-entering figures into disclosure templates. SYNE One eliminates that entire category of work.

📧
Before

Supplier emission surveys sent, ignored, chased

CDP supply chain questionnaires sent to 200 suppliers. 40 respond. You estimate the rest from sector averages. Your Scope 3 is 70% guesswork.

→ Verified Scope 3 from every transaction
📊
Before

CSRD disclosure built in spreadsheets over 3 months

Pulling energy invoices, transport records, waste logs, HR data - manually compiled for an auditor who then queries half the figures.

→ CSRD pre-populated from live data in 60 days
🔍
Before

No visibility into supply chain beyond Tier 1

You know your direct suppliers. You have no verified data on who they buy from, their energy source, water use, or deforestation risk - so your EUDR and CSRD disclosures are based on declarations, not evidence.

→ Blockchain-verified Tier 5 supply chain depth
🗓️
Before

Net-zero progress only visible at year-end

Emissions are calculated once per year. You find out in February that you missed your Q3 target. There is no intervention opportunity - only retrospective apology.

→ Live target tracking updated every transaction

Platform Capabilities

Every tool a sustainability team needs. All on verified data.

SYNE One replaces the patchwork of ESG data platforms, spreadsheet models, disclosure tools, and carbon registries that most sustainability teams juggle - with a single connected system where every metric flows from independently verified operational data, not from manual inputs or estimation models.

🌍

Auto-Calculate Scope 1, 2 & 3

GHG Protocol emission factors applied automatically to every procurement transaction, energy invoice, logistics event, and supplier payment - producing real-time Scope 1, 2, and 3 figures from actual operational data. No estimation model, no annual survey cycle.

Supplier ESG Scoring & Engagement

Every supplier in your procurement network is independently ESG-scored across emissions intensity, energy mix, water stress, labour standards, and certification portfolio - not from a questionnaire they fill in themselves, but from independently audited data verified against issuing body registries.

Net-Zero Target Tracking

Set SBTi-aligned or custom net-zero targets and track progress live - not annually. Every transaction updates your trajectory. Deviation alerts fire when you go off-track before year-end, giving time to intervene. Scenario modelling shows the fastest, cheapest decarbonisation pathway to your targets.

Scope 1, 2 & 3 Emissions

Measured from transactions. Not from models.

The difference between SYNE and every other emissions platform is the data source. SYNE calculates emissions from independently verified, real operational events - not by multiplying your revenue by a sector intensity factor. That distinction determines whether your net-zero claim is credible.

Scope 1 - from energy and fleet transactions

Natural gas invoices, fuel cards, refrigerant purchases, and company vehicle mileage automatically capture Scope 1 emissions at the point of transaction - using current GHG Protocol emission factors with automatic updates when IPCC factors are revised.

🔌

Scope 2 - market-based and location-based

Electricity consumption matched against your energy supplier's verified fuel mix disclosure - producing both market-based (using your actual tariff's emission factor) and location-based (using national grid average) Scope 2 figures for dual-reporting compliance.

🚢

Scope 3 - from supply chain transactions

Purchased goods and services (Category 1), upstream transport and distribution (Category 4), business travel (Category 6), and downstream logistics (Category 9) calculated from verified procurement, logistics, and travel data. Category 15 (investments) available with SYNE climate capital module.

🔗

Supplier-specific emission factors

Where suppliers are on SYNE and have completed independent verification, their actual emission intensity replaces the sector average - producing a Scope 3 footprint that reflects your specific supply chain, not an industry benchmark.

Scope 3 Category 1 (purchased goods and services) typically represents 70–90% of a manufacturer's total emissions footprint - and most organisations have almost no verified data on it. SYNE One gives sustainability teams real, audited data at the supplier level, replacing estimated sector averages with verified, transaction-specific emission factors.

🏭

Retire the right credits against the right emissions.

SYNE One connects your verified Scope 3 emissions directly to carbon credit procurement and retirement - with automatic matching against the GHG Protocol guidance on carbon credit use, VERRA/Gold Standard registry-linked retirement, and SBTi milestone scheduling.

🎯

Automatic Scope 3 matching

Verified emissions auto-matched to available credits - prioritising same-geography, same-sector projects for alignment with GHG Protocol guidance and SBTi beyond-value-chain mitigation criteria.

📋

Registry-linked retirement certificate

Retirement executed on the VERRA or Gold Standard registry and linked directly to your emissions record - so your disclosure says "18.4t retired against batch MMS-2024-0847" with the certificate serial number, not "estimated offset amount".

🛡️

ICVCM quality screening

Every credit screened against ICVCM Core Carbon Principles and Berkeley reversal risk database before listing. No permanence risk, no additionality questions, no greenwash exposure.

📈

Net-zero progress integration

Credits retired are deducted from your residual emissions on your live net-zero tracker - so your SBTi progress report reflects actual retirements, not planned purchases, and is always audit-ready.

FAQ

Common questions from sustainability teams.

How does SYNE get verified Scope 3 data from suppliers?
SYNE uses three data sources for Scope 3: (1) verified transaction data from suppliers who use SYNE - where actual energy mix, transport mode, and production emissions are recorded at the transaction level; (2) independently audited supplier disclosures from the SYNE marketplace network where suppliers have completed onboarding; and (3) GHG Protocol sector-average emission factors for the residual where neither source is available, clearly labelled as estimated. Category 1 (purchased goods) accuracy varies from 30% measured data for new SYNE users to 94% for organisations with a well-connected supply chain.
How quickly can we produce our first CSRD report?
The average time from SYNE onboarding to first CSRD-ready ESRS E1 report is 60 days for organisations with at least 12 months of transactional history on the platform. ESRS E2, E3, E4, and S1/S2 take longer as they depend on additional supplier data flows and dual materiality assessment input - typically 90–120 days for a full CSRD disclosure. SYNE provides a guided CSRD readiness assessment at onboarding that identifies exactly which data gaps need addressing and estimates your timeline.
Does SYNE replace our existing ESG data platform?
For most sustainability teams, yes. SYNE covers Scope 1/2/3 calculation, supplier ESG scoring, CSRD/GRI/CDP/TCFD reporting, EUDR documentation, CBAM declarations, carbon credit management, and net-zero target tracking - the combined scope of 3–5 separate specialist tools that most teams currently use. ERP and accounting integrations mean SYNE can also ingest energy and operational data from your existing systems. A migration guide is available, and our implementation team can assist with data migration from common ESG platforms.
Is SYNE CSRD-compliant for third-country companies?
SYNE's CSRD reporting covers the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) as adopted by the European Commission. For companies in the first wave (large listed EU companies) and second wave (large non-listed EU companies), SYNE's ESRS E1–E4 and S1–S2 outputs meet the disclosure requirements subject to the company's own materiality assessment. For third-country companies with EU-listed securities or EU parent obligations, SYNE supports the same ESRS reporting. SYNE does not provide legal compliance advice - we provide a data and reporting tool. Your auditor determines final compliance.
How does the carbon credit matching work in practice?
SYNE calculates your verified residual emissions - the emissions that remain after reduction initiatives are accounted for - and matches them to available carbon credits based on four criteria: project type alignment with GHG Protocol guidance, vintage year alignment with the emissions period being offset, same-geography preference where available (Scope 3 emissions from India matched to Indian projects where possible), and ICVCM Core Carbon Principles compliance. The matching is automatic but editable - you can override suggestions if you have preferred project types or existing registry relationships.
Can SYNE handle TNFD nature-related disclosures?
SYNE supports TNFD-aligned nature risk assessments using supply chain origin data - specifically, proximity of supplier facilities to protected areas, critical natural habitat, and water stress zones, scored using global biodiversity databases. For TNFD LEAP (Locate, Evaluate, Assess, Prepare) methodology support, SYNE covers the Locate step using our supply chain traceability records and provides the data inputs for Evaluate. Full TNFD disclosure preparation is available as a professional services engagement for organisations in the first wave of TNFD adoption.
